Charley Steiner reached a three year contract extension to remain the radio play-by-play voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers according to Larry King.
The 85-year old television and radio star and longtime friend of Steiner tweeted the news, writing “Congratulations to my good buddy Charley Steiner, who just signed a 3 year extension to be the Dodgers radio play-by-play announcer! Way to go, Charley!”
Steiner’s new contract will see him remain the voice of the Dodgers through the 2021 season. Steiner has called Dodger games since 2005, after spending three years partnered with John Sterling in the New York Yankees radio booth. The 69- year old Steiner, born in New York, grew up a Dodger fan with the franchise moving from Brooklyn to Los Angeles when he was eight years old.
The Los Angeles Dodgers Radio Network consists of 26 different stations, with KLAC AM 570 serving as their flagship. Steiner has been paired with former Dodger outfielder, Rick Monday during his 15 seasons as their radio play-by-play announcer.
