Pac-12 Network Payouts Well Short Of Expectations

The Pac-12 Network’s failure to land a deal with DirecTV and AT&T U-Verse has long been a sore subject for fans of the Conference of Champions.

Beyond the product failing to reach the living rooms of fans, critics have questioned Commissioner Larry Scott’s financial decisions surrounding the Networks for years.

In the 7 years since the Networks launched, much has been made of the disappointing annual payout to the Conference’s 12 Schools.  This week the Mercury News published an article citing a source who was in an Athletic Director meeting with Larry Scott years ago as the Commissioner outlined yearly expectations.  The article claims Scott promised between (worst case) 3-5 million a year and (best case) 7-10 million.

The article continued to publish the following payouts:
2013: None Listed

2014: $862,000 per school

2015: $1,677,500 per school

2016: $1,980,250 per school

2017: $2,522,167 per school

2018: $2,666,667 per school

The PAC-12 is still the only Power 5 conference that completely owns its own network(s).
