iHeartMedia is shuffling the deck at SportsTalk 790 in Houston. The station’s new lineup debuts Monday and sees afternoon host Sean Salisbury move to morning drive.
“Being the leadoff hitter is a great challenge,” Salisbury said in a press release. “Listeners rely on you to kick-start their day with great energy and passion. I’m very excited to be part of a show that gives our listeners top of the morning sports news and intriguing commentary.”
Salisbury and his co-hosts Michael Connor, Rachel Van Oranje and Adam Sager took over afternoon drive at SportsTalk 790 last summer. Salisbury and Sager joined from SB Nation Radio, owned by crosstown rival Gow Media.
Former NFL players Greg Koch and N.D. Kalu begin their new show Koch and Kalu at 10am. They are followed by The Matt Thomas Show, featuring Matt Thomas, the radio voice of the Houston Rockets, at noon.
Taking Salisbury’s spot in afternoons will be a familiar name and voice to 790 listeners. Adam Clanton returns to host The A Team every weekday from 3-6 pm. Clanton was released by iHeartMedia in April of 2018 after an argument with recently released morning man Josh Innes went public.
Clanton will have a co-host in afternoon drive. Who that person will be has not been announced yet.
“It’s been a long year, but I’m very happy to be back,” Clanton told The Houston Chronicle. “Things have a way of working themselves out, and in the meantime I got to spend time with my son that most fathers don’t get – and that’s something I wouldn’t trade for anything.”
