Denver’s 104.3 The Fan announced former Bronco offensive lineman, Tom Nalen will join their afternoon show, partnering with co-host Darren “DMac” McKee on The Drive, weekdays from 3 – 6pm.
“I’m still pinching myself. I cannot believe Tom Nalen is my new radio partner,” said McKee when discussing the two-time Super Bowl champion. “Our friendship goes back to his days playing for the Broncos and continued after he retired. I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited or happy professionally following this move. To host ‘The Drive’ every day with Tom Nalen is an absolute dream come true.”
Nalen replaces Alfred Williams, his Bronco teammate of four years, on The Fan’s afternoon show. Big Al is expected to join the Broncos flagship affiliate, News-Talk KOA 850 and iHeart sister station Orange & Blue 760 when his non-compete clause expires.
“While Tommy’s football credentials are unquestionable, it’s his personality that made him the perfect fit as our new co-host of The Drive,” said program director Raj Sharan in a press release. Pairing Nalen with DMac is the first major weekday lineup change for Sharan since being promoted from The Fan’s assistant program director to PD in February.
“His sense of humor mixed with blunt honesty and a heart of gold add up to one of the most loveable figures in Denver sports history,” added Sharan. “During our audition process, his chemistry with DMac was instant and undeniable, as was the overwhelming feedback we received from our listeners. It was clear and obvious that Tommy was the people’s choice, and I’m thrilled all of Broncos Country will enjoy his insight and charm every weekday on their drive home.”
Nalen is no stranger to drive-time sports radio in Denver, having helped launch Altitude 950 in 2016, co-hosting their afternoon show with Nate Kreckman. “Similar to Kevin Durant, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em right?” Nalen joked. “I’m thrilled to be joining The Fan, it’s going to be a blast challenging DMac and having fun with him every day.”
