Former WFAN morning man Craig Carton is set to start his prison sentence on Monday. He took the time to send a message to fans and supporters using the site TwitLonger before his time behind bars begins.
Carton thanked readers for supporting him and his family. He continued apologizing for his role in the pyramid scheme that resulted in his incarceration, and noted that he hopes there is a chapter of redemption still left in his story.
“I am keenly aware that my life doesn’t end when I go to prison, to the contrary it actually begins,” Carton wrote. “I plan on making the most of the positive and life growing opportunities that the prison offers.”
He promised to work to repay his victims and regain the trust of those around him. “I look forward to the day when you accept that I have lived up to these promises and allow me the opportunity to once again be a part of your lives,” he wrote. “I know when that day comes you will see and hear the best version of me.”
Carton was found guilty of orchestrating a phony ticket reselling scheme that scammed investors out of as much as $5.6 million, which Carton used pay off gambling debts and other personal expenses. In April he was sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison.
