Following in the fine example set by the NFL, the NBA is becoming a year-round sport with free agency and wall to wall coverage of Summer League.
On linear television, NBA TV will be broadcasting the lion’s share of this month’s games in Orlando and Salt Lake City, with most available online through ESPN’s Digital platforms. Vegas, however, will be a different story, and that’s largely because of the presence of top NBA Draft picks Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett.
Of the 83 games played in Sin City over the next couple weeks, ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU will carry 43. The Jump will also set up shop to broadcast from southern Nevada along with a number of ESPN’s top NBA analysts. ESPN’s huge commitment the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League will culminate in the July 15 Championship game on ESPN2 with Mark Jones and Jorge Sedano on the call.
The worldwide leader will use the opportunity to experiment with court side cameras, an overhead aerial camera, and a cable camera rigged to run up and down the court for select games.
