Longtime sports radio host on 1620 The Zone in Omaha, NE, Nick Bahe will be leaving the station to pursue other broadcast opportunities. The former Creighton University basketball player from 2006 – 08 announced his upcoming departure on Twitter and during Monday’s radio show.
For the last six years, the former Creighton Bluejay has hosted The Zone’s Game Time with Nick Bahe from 11am – 2pm. Prior to his work on Game Time, Bahe co-hosted the Schick & Nick Show on KOZN 1620 from 2009 – 13. Bahe’s final midday show on 1620 will be this Wednesday, July 17th.
“As far as what is specifically next for me, a lot of that’s up in the air,” Bahe told listeners during his Monday radio show. “But for now, I’m ready to attack my college basketball TV and national media dream.”
Throughout his tenure on 1620, Bahe has also been featured on other platforms, most notably for college basketball. According to Jon Nyatawa of the Omaha World-Herald, this winter will be Bahe’s sixth season as a Big East basketball analyst with Fox. Bahe has also worked as an analyst for the Big Ten Network and CBS Sports, with the goal of one day calling an NCAA Tournament game on television. Earlier this year, Bahe also joined Fox Sports Radio’s national lineup as a weekend host, partnering with Dan Beyer from 5 – 8pm ET on Sunday evenings.
According to Omaha.com, KOZN will use guest hosts until they find a permanent midday show replacement for Bahe. “Nick was such a great teammate, and someone who’s very much respected in the market,” said Mark Shecterle, general manager of NRG Media which owns 1620 The Zone. “It’s going to be big shoes to fill.”
