ESPN 630, Cumulus’ new sports radio station in Washington DC has announced a few new additions to their staff. Familiar local personalities Andy Pollin and Bram Weinstein have signed on to be part of the station’s programming team.
Starting with Pollin, Andy will serve as the Sports Update Anchor in morning drive, supplying local sports updates during ESPN’s “Golic & Wingo Show” which airs on the station weekdays from 6am to 10am ET. Pollin will also be a Features Correspondent for ESPN 630.
For Weinstein, he takes on the challenge of hosting afternoon drive. “The Bram Weinstein Show” will launch July 30th with a three-day series of broadcasts from Washington Redskins NFL Training Camp in Richmond, VA. The program will air weekdays from 3pm to 6pm ET. Bram will also host ESPN 630’s “Redskins Today” show weeknights at 6pm.
Both Pollin and Weinstein were last heard on local sports radio station The Team 980 before the station made cuts last year. Pollin was part of the original team at America’s first all-sports station, WFAN/New York, in 1987. Over the past 25 years he’s been a mainstay in the DC area working alongside well known personalities such as Tony Kornheiser and Steve Czaban.
Weinstein on the other hand has spent more than a decade covering DC sports as a reporter and talk show host, including eight years as a Redskins beat reporter. He also enjoyed a seven year stint as an anchor at ESPN.
Bill Hess, Program Director, Cumulus Washington, DC, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome these DC sports radio icons to ESPN 630 and look forward to sharing news of further additions to our team in the very near future.”
Weinstein added: “I couldn’t be more excited to be doing sportstalk on the radio station where it began in DC. I grew up listening to Ken Beatrice, “SportsCall” and the Redskins on AM 630.”
Pollin followed: “After nearly 30 years of doing sports radio in Washington, I’m incredibly excited to join ESPN 630 and restore the frequency’s great history of sports.”
ESPN 630/Washington is currently in the midst of a multi-year deal to broadcast all Redskins games, along with ancillary Redskins programming.
