Vince Carter Expected To Be Sought After Analyst

Vince Carter hasn’t been signed yet, but he is intent on playing one more season in the NBA. It would be the 42-year-old’s 22nd professional season. After that he will retire, and according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, will have his choice of jobs in the media.

Fox Sports’s VP of Production Bardia Shah-Rais told Marchand, “Vince’s potential as a broadcaster is off the charts, and when the time comes, he’ll be able to pick the job he wants because of all the hard work he’s already put into this business, all while still being an active Hall of Fame NBA player.”

Carter has already joined studio shows and called games at ESPN and NBA TV. He has also called the NBA Jr. Global Championship on FS1. He will do that again this summer.

He has also taken his training seriously. Carter has already completed the NBA Players Association’s “Sportscaster U” program, he minored in communications at the University of North Carolina, and he currently hosts a podcast for The Ringer.

“I wouldn’t go (the) Stephen A. (Smith) route,” Carter told Marchand of his style. “I wouldn’t go the quiet route. … I want to explain the game where you are watching it and say: Ah, that makes sense.”
