Fox is making the most of its deal with former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. He has already been announced as part of the cast of the network’s new Saturday pregame show Big Noon Kickoff, and now his duties have expanded.
Big Ten Network has announced that Meyer will serve as an analyst on multiple studio shows throughout the season. The network is a joint venture of the Big Ten Conference and Fox.
Many college football fans have speculated that Fox is more of a temporary stop for Meyer than a new home. In 2011, Meyer joined ESPN after retiring as Florida’s head coach. One year later he left broadcasting for the Ohio State job.
With Clay Helton on a hot seat at USC, it’s been widely speculated that Fox is playing the same role for Meyer that ESPN did once upon a time, and that he will be in LA by 2020. Perhaps that is why Fox is trying to get as much as it possibly can out of the three-time national champion this year.
