NBC is moving Pierre McGuire off of its top NHL broadcasts according to Rick Carpiniello of The Athletic.
Carpiniello clarified in a later Tweet that McGuire is not leaving NBC entirely, but Brian Boucher will be joining Doc Emerick and Eddie Olczyk on the top game each week.
John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal Tweeted a statement from NBC. The network doesn’t shed a lot of light on what the plans actually are for its NHL broadcasts throughout the season.
McGuire has been with NBC for the last 13 seasons. He began splitting time between NBC and TSN in 2006. He made the full-time move to NBC in 2011.
With no confirmation or outright detail coming from the network, it remains to be seen what NBC’s plans actually are beyond opening night.
