There is a change in the sound of morning sports talk in Phoenix. The father and son duo of Tim and Jake Montemayor are out at 1580 the Fanatic. They have been replaced by market veteran Bruce Jacobs and former Cowboys o-lineman Dale Hellestrae.
The new show is called Bruce Jacobs & Helly. It will debut on Monday, September 23.
Jacobs previously hosted at crosstown rival Arizona Sports and the Bonneville Phoenix cluster. Hellestrae is a Phoenix native who won three Super Bowls as part of the Cowboys’ offensive line in the 90s. He also played for the Bills, Raiders, and Ravens in his 16 year NFL career.
“We are so excited to have two well-known Phoenix sports radio veterans team up together every morning on The Fanatic” CRC Sports President & CEO Ron Cohen said in a press release. “With Bruce and Dale on board, we’re really looking forward to increasing our growth and popularity in the coming weeks and months.”
Tim Montemayor took to Twitter to let listeners know that there are no hard feelings between his family and the station and wished the new morning show well. He also noted that he and Jake will continue their show as a podcast and stream everyday on Twitter.
