FOX Sports has locked down two familiar faces for the foreseeable future. Pro Football Hall of Famers and Undisputed co-host Shannon Sharpe and MLB insider and reporter Tom Verducci have both signed contract extensions.
Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reported that FOX had considered moving former Vikings wide receiver and First Things First co-host Cris Carter to the chair opposite Skip Bayless on Undisputed if Sharpe had walked. The network likely didn’t plan to let that happen though. FOX has been very happy with Sharpe’s work since joining FS1. He even served as a red carpet co-host during FOX’s presentation of the Emmys earlier this month.
As for Verducci, the former Sports Illustrated writer will see his role with the company expand. According to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, Verducci will become part of the network’s college football coverage.
The details of what “other CFB programming” means. The potential exists for Verducci to provide in-game features or even do sideline reporting for games on both FOX and FS1.
