Tom Tolbert Joins Golden State Warriors Radio Team

Former NBA forward and popular San Francisco radio host Tom Tolbert is joining his former team as a radio analyst. Tom Tolbert will be heard on broadcasts of Golden State Warriors home games this season. He will be alongside play-by-play man Tim Roye. Jim Barnett will fill the analyst role for road games.

It may create something of an awkward situation for the Bay Area’s two biggest sports radio brands. Tolbert recently signed a multi-year extension to remain with KNBR as part of the station’s afternoon show, Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks. Warriors games air on crosstown rival 95.7 the Game.

KNBR program director Jeremiah Crowe told BSM that he doesn’t see any reason to stand in the way of Tolbert joining the Warriors broadcast team.

“In no way do we anticipate this affecting Tom’s weekday 2p-6p responsibilities here at KNBR 104.5FM & 680AM, and we are happy to allow him the chance to pursue this well deserved opportunity.”

Tolbert is no stranger to calling NBA games. After a seven year NBA career that saw him play for four different teams, including the Warriors, he called games for NBC, ABC, and ESPN. He also previously served as the team’s color analyst from 2013-2016.

For the fourth consecutive season, 95.7 The Game will serve as the flagship radio station for Warriors basketball. All preseason and regular season games will be broadcast on the station, with an additional 60 minutes of coverage offered to each of the existing 30-minute pre- and post-game programs as well as heightened in-season daily Warriors coverage featuring both Warriors and NBA-themed shows.
