Mike Thomas Exits The Sports Hub For ESPN 1000

Mike Thomas is leaving 98.5 the Sports Hub after ten very successful years in Boston. He will be the new market manager in Chicago for Good Karma Brand, who recently took over operation of WMVP-AM from ESPN.

“As a lifelong Chicago sports fan, this is a dream come true,” Thomas said in Good Karma’s press release. “It’s so exciting as ESPN 1000 Chicago has a great team, loyal advertising partners and passionate fans. This also gives me the opportunity to be close to my family and work with a company who, like me, has Midwest roots and a passion for sports!”

Thomas officially takes over Good Karma’s Chicago property in January. In the mean time he will consult the Sports Hub as the station searches for a new PD. Anyone interested in that job should email dreamgig@bbgi.com.

“This was an incredibly difficult decision. This radio station is a once in a career station, with a once in a career staff,” Thomas said of what he is leaving behind.

Mike Thomas has been program director of 98.5 the Sports Hub since the station’s launch in 2009. In that time he has topped the BSM list of top 20 major market program directors multiple times and won several awards including Sports Station of the Year at last month’s Marconi Awards in Dallas.
