Cris Carter continues to be off his FS1 show First Things First, but now reports state the Hall-of-Fame wide-receiver might be parting ways with the network for good.
After Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead reported Carter and FS1 were at odds for an unknown reason, Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports has since shared the First Things First co-host is upset at not being included in Fox’s Thursday Night Football pregame coverage.
First Things First featuring Carter, Nick Wright and Jenna Wolfe is taped in New York just as FOX’s Thursday Night Football pregame show is. But instead of using Carter for TNF, FOX instead sends some of their Los Angeles-based talent across the country to fill the role. FOX also recently started using newcomer Rob Gronkowski on their TNF coverage. According to McCarthy there have also been reported rumors of an alleged “blow-up” between Carter and his FS1 bosses.
Carter’s Twitter bio makes no mention of FS1 or First Things First, but as The Big Lead noted, he removed it during a bit on a recent show, while discussing similar actions from Jalen Ramsey. As of 11:59pm Monday, Carter is still prominently displayed on the First Things First Twitter page, @FTFonFS1.
In his absence, Carter has been replaced by former NFL defensive-lineman and ESPN New York radio host, Chris Canty. The 53-year old Carter was hired by FS1 in 2016 and helped launch First Things First with Nick Wright and Jenna Wolfe in 2017.
