Sports stars can be fans too and that was exemplified when John Daly called into Paul Finebaum’s radio show Monday afternoon.
It wasn’t a planned interview, the professional golfer just used the regular call-in number to The Paul Finebaum Show, simulcast by the SEC Network. One of the most popular personalities in the history of the PGA and a die-hard fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Daly wanted to publicly state his opinion of who the school’s next head football coach should be.
The Razorbacks didn’t wait for Black Sunday to dismiss their previous head coach, Chad Morris. The job has been vacant since they fired Morris Nov. 9, so the University should have a narrowed list of candidates by now.
According to Chris Vannini of The Athletic, Daly prefers Florida Atlantic’s Lane Kiffin for the job and also hoped Arkansas would show interest in Rex Ryan.
A former Razorback himself, Daly attended the University of Arkansas from 1984-1987 on a golf scholarship. At the end of the call, Finebaum noted he’s also a fan of Lane Kiffin and believes Daly’s endorsement could carry some weight.
