Longtime Chicago sports media member, David Haugh announced he was leaving one of his jobs as he closes his chapter with the Chicago Tribune.
Haugh joined the Tribune in 2003, later beginning his “dream job” as a columnist in 2009, but after 17 years, their partnership is over. The 51-year old made the announcement on Twitter, where he also stated leaving the Tribune will not affect his TV or radio gigs.
Haugh replaced Brian Hanley on 670 The Score’s morning show in 2018, forming Mully and Haugh with Mike Mulligan. In taking over morning drive on The Score, Haugh began contributing less weekly columns to the Tribune. He did not provide a reason for parting ways with the paper.
“The Chicago Tribune might not be what it used to be but still full of proud, hard-working reporters I admire who care about journalism,” Haugh added. “I always will love the Tribune and its mission, blessed to have been a part of it for so long. It was a good run full of some great moments.”
As Haugh noted in his announcement on Twitter, he will also continue appearing on NBC Sports Chicago with David Kaplan (@thekapman). Kaplan is the primary host on the network’s roundtable show Sports Talk Live, which Haugh contributes to. Haugh and Kaplan previously co-hosted morning drive on Chicago’s now defunct 87.7 The Game.
