Longtime TV play-by-play voice of the St. Louis Cardinals, Dan McLaughlin is joining 101 ESPN. According to the announcement, McLaughlin joins the Hubbard Broadcasting owned St. Louis sports radio station as their lead Cardinals contributor.
“I am extremely excited that Dan has joined the staff at 101 ESPN,” said Tommy Mattern, operations manager and 101 ESPN brand content director. “It’s so important to increase our coverage of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and having the voice of the team contribute on multi-platforms is invaluable.”
McLaughlin will be featured daily on 101 ESPN, providing Cardinals reports and hosting a weekly one-hour radio show on the station. Cardinals fans will also hear McLaughlin used as a fill-in host for various shows throughout the year.
“I’m excited to join 101. To be able to talk baseball on a station that cares about our community is very important to me,” McLaughlin said. “Baseball means so much to St. Louis and I’m thrilled to be a part of a place that cares about our town.”
Having called his first major league baseball game at the age of 23, the St. Louis native and longtime play-by-play announcer soon became the full-time voice of the Cardinals on FOX Sports in 2000.
