Internet comedy sensation Joey Mulinaro announced today that he is leaving Indianapolis to move to New York. He will join Barstool Sports and create videos for the brand.
Mulinaro rose to fame with impressions of college football coaches and sports media personalities. His impression of LSU head coach Ed Orgeron made him a favorite of ESPN 104.5 in Baton Rouge. He also regularly posted videos impersonating Alabama head coach Nick Saban and FS1’s Colin Cowherd.
In addition to impressions, Mulinaro has also garnered attention for his sketch videos featuring a character named Brian discussing dates as if they were big games.
Mulinaro has history with Barstool. He was an intern for Pat McAfee’s Barstool Heartland. It is where he met his eventual wife.
As for his future, the ball started rolling in Indianapolis during the NFL Draft Combine. Mulinaro met up with the Pardon My Take crew to record a video. From there, he had phone calls with Dave Portnoy and Erika Nardini before flying to New York to meet with them in person.
“A year ago I was just another 25-year-old media guy just trying to separate himself from the hundreds of thousands of other dudes and young ladies who want to talk sports or making people laugh for a living,” Mulinaro wrote in an essay for Barstool. “Now, in a matter of what feels like weeks, I’m joining the best and funniest media company in the world.”
