Barrett Sports Media was pleased to learn that Workhouse Media EVP of Talent and Content John McConnell is on the mend after showing symptoms of Covid-19 two weeks ago. McConnell has been a long time supporter of the BSM brand.
John and his wife Marie began exhibiting symptoms of the disease over a week ago and got tested. Marie’s symptoms were mild compared to John’s. While awaiting the results, John’s condition deteriorated and he ended up in the hospital.
Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic administered hydroxychloroquine under the guidance of TV doctor Mehmet Oz after McConnell gave his consent. Hydroxychloroquine is usually used to treat lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and malaria. More commonly known as Plaquenil, it is an experimental and controversial treatment for Covid-19.
McConnell spiked a fever of 103.5 before he stabilized. He told RAMP that doctors put him on the phone with his wife.
“Marie and I were saying goodbyes to one another, and my kids were, too. But the Plaquenil was working in my system. The luck of the timing is what made the difference.”
The hospital released McConnell last Monday. It happened to be the same day that he received his positive results from the Covid-19 test. He and his wife Marie are recovering at their home in Florida.
