Barrett Sports Media saw what a strong social media following can do in a bracket when Matt Barrie marched to the Final Four as a 16-seed in the SportsCenter Anchor Tournament last month. Now Rich Passan is getting a similar level of support in ESPN Cleveland’s KNR GOAT bracket.
64 past and present personalities make up the bracket’s four regions as fans vote on each individual matchup through Twitter polls @ESPNCleveland.
Rich Passan, a 42-year columnist for The Plain Dealer, spent many weekends as a sports radio contributor to KNR and looks to have some serious support in their GOAT bracket. His son, ESPN MLB Insider Jeff Passan rallied his 435K Twitter followers to help push his father through the first round. A 13-seed, Passan defeated #4 Bruce Hooley in a landslide victory with almost 75% of the votes.
The Round of 32 will get tougher for Rich, as he goes up against his son’s ESPN peer Brian Windhorst, who previously covered the Cavaliers for KNR. As a 5-seed, Windhorst brings 717K Twitter followers to challenge the Passan family in the GOAT bracket.
