ESPN To Air Peloton Spin Class With Celebrity Riders

Peloton has seen its profile rise during the Covid-19 pandemic. The connected bike, which came under fire for a commercial that aired around the holiday, has bounced back as the fitness equipment of choice for those missing the gym. And ESPN has taken notice.

This Saturday the World Wide Leader will team with Peloton to present a star-studded event. Sixteen athletes will compete in the Peloton All-Star Ride. The event will feature Ryan Rucco and Peloton instructor Ally Love will provide commentary for the event.

Is America itching to watch people ride stationary bikes for an hour? Well, probably not, but ESPN is hoping viewers are drawn in by the star power. Gordon Hayward of the Boston Celtics, professional golfers Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and Bubba Watson, and 18-time Olympic medalist Alyson Felix are all scheduled to compete.

The special will be divided into a men’s division and a women’s division. Each ride will last 20 minutes with a winner being declared. There is also a goal for all 16 athletes to meet in order for Peloton to donate one million meals to the Food Bank of New York City.

ESPN personalities like Cole Cubelic, Booger McFarland, and Marty Smith have tweeted about their competitive private rides in the last few months. Peloton members that want to actually ride alongside the All Star Ride competitors can download the ride from their Peloton bike or the company’s app after it airs on ESPN.
