Shortly after announcing their revamped radio booth for the upcoming season, the temporarily named Washington Football Team added London Fletcher to their gameday broadcast.
Fletcher joins the team’s radio booth as a postgame analyst, filling a position previously held by Rick “Doc” Walker. The retired NFL linebacker completes the radio broadcast for the Washington Football Team, joining newly appointed play-by-play voice Bram Weinstein, analyst DeAngelo Hall and anchor Julie Donaldson.
The new team of announcers replaces last year’s broadcast which featured play-by-play voice Larry Michael, along with analysts Chris Cooley and Walker. Last month, Michael abruptly resigned from his longtime role as the team’s radio play-by-play voice a day before he was among seven former franchise employees named for allegations of sexual harassment.
The decision to remove Cooley and Walker from the broadcast was unrelated to Michael’s unceremonious resignation. According to Donaldson, who is the team’s Senior VP of Media, the decision not to bring Cooley back to the radio booth was made at the beginning of the year.
Fletcher retired from football in 2013, following a 16-year NFL career which included four pro-bowl appearances for Washington. Since his playing career ended, the popular personality has worked for CBS Sports Network as an analyst and host of That Other Pregame Show.
