Southern California sports radio legend Dave Smith will be part of the Mightier 1090’s lineup starting on Saturday. Smith will host shows on Saturday and Sunday nights for the station.
Smith has been a part of the Southern California sports scene for over a quarter century. In that time he has hosted pre and postgame shows for he Lakers, Clippers, Dodgers, Angels, Chargers, USC football, USC basketball, UCLA football and UCLA basketball. He also dominated afternoon drive ratings in Los Angeles and was named “L.A.’s Best Sports-Talk Show Host” by the LA Daily News five times.
“When I first heard The Mightier 1090 was returning to the airwaves, I couldn’t have been more excited because, as a 25-year listener, I missed the best sports-talk station in Southern California,” Smith said in a press release. “And when I learned I was going to be a part of the new line-up, it was a highlight of my career; my first job in radio was on The Mighty 690 in San Diego and 25 years later I’m coming back home,”
Listeners will hear Smith on weekend evenings. He will host a four hour show each Saturday and Sunday starting at 6 pm.
“Dave is a great addition to The Mightier 1090 All Star Lineup,” said station investor Bill Hagen, who made it possible for the station to relaunch earlier this week. “We are thrilled that we are adding another 8 hours of local content each week as well. Our lineup is an ongoing ‘work in progress’ and signing Dave to 1090 was a major milestone for us.”
