Coming up on his 10-year anniversary with ESPN New York, Dave Rothenberg will be with the station for at least two more. According to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post, Rothenberg and ESPN have agreed to a new contract extension.
A New York native, Rothenberg joined the ESPN affiliate when it was still on 1050 AM in 2010. He started out as a utility fill-in host following a five-year stint in Raleigh, NC where he helped launch 99.9 The Fan.
With ESPN New York, Rothenberg has been heard on weekends, overnights, evenings, middays, evenings again, back to middays and most recently landed in the 9 – 11am hours with his co-hosts Chris Canty and Rick DiPietro.
After recently shuffling their lineup to include more national programming, it’s fair to question how long ESPN New York will stick with a daytime schedule that features six different radio shows. But with Rothenberg signed for two more years, DiPietro still under contract and Canty reportedly nearing an extension, Humpty, Canty & Rothenberg should remain a focal point of ESPN New York’s local coverage.
