NBA players will finish the season according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Players held a meeting at 11 AM on Thursday. The playoffs could resume as early as Friday.
After the Milwaukee Bucks refused to play Game 5 against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night in protest of Kenosha, Wisconsin police shooting Jacob Blake in the back seven times, the entire night of games was cancelled. There will be no games Thursday night either.
There is a second meeting scheduled. It will feature two players from each team talking to NBA owners. A source tells Woj that the goal of that meeting is to “formulate action plans to address racial injustice issues and iron out details of restarting the playoffs.”
Critics have been very vocal about asking what the players’ plan was in boycotting games. It seems that even if it wasn’t made public right away, the players were formulating a plan. Bucks players were on the phone with Wisconsin officials on Wednesday night expressing what they want in this moment.
