ESPN To Call 1st College Football Game Remotely

College football season will be under a microscope in 2020. The first game of the season will happen on Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama. The Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff will feature Austin Peay and Central Arkansas.

Matt Barrie will call the play-by-play. Mike Golic Jr. will join him as the game analyst. They will not be in Montgomery though. According to the press release, the pair will call the game from a studio in Bristol.

ESPN will have one on camera talent in Montgomery for the game. Sideline reporter Lauren Sisler will be in the stadium for the game. Physically, the move makes sense. Sisler is based in Birmingham, Alabama, which is less than 90 minutes north of Montgomery. On Twitter, she posted a video compilation to show her excitement.

Saturday is just a small sample. With each conference making their own plans for the season, there is no single opening weekend this season.
