Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is expanding his TV profile. Jake Tapper welcomed Green to Friday’s edition of The Lead and announced that he would be a regular contributor to the network.
Draymond discussed the three-day boycott of games by NBA players in his first appearance. He said that he wasn’t surprised players on the teams remaining in the playoffs chose to return to the court.
“If we leave our stage and we drop our microphone, we could no longer speak for those people that we are speaking for which are parts of our community that their voices aren’t heard,” Green said. “If we take those resources away, we’re taking resources away from ourselves to be able to continue this fight.”
CNN has been stepping up its sports presence in recent months. Two months ago, the network announced that Saints wide receiver Malcolm Jenkins would contribute to the network. Last month legendary sportscaster Bob Costas joined in a similar role.
The addition of Green was likely fairly easy. He has served as an analyst for TNT, another Turner-owned network, during the NBA restart inside the Walt Disney World bubble.
