NBC Sports has landed the perfect replacement for Kyle Martino. The network announced today that Tim Howard would join the team in the studio on Saturday mornings.
Howard was tailor-made for this role. In addition to being one of the most recognizable American soccer players in history, he also spent 13 seasons in the Premier League as a goalkeeper for two clubs, Manchester United and Everton.
It is a return to NBC for Howard. He began calling matches for the network while still an active player in 2013. He continued in the role, amidst some controversy, for the next two seasons.
“I’m excited to re-join NBC Sports, where I got my start in broadcasting,” Howard said in a press release. “After playing for 13 years in the Premier League, and watching regularly since, I can’t wait to get into the studio to provide analysis on the League with Rebecca and the Robbies.”
Since leaving England, Tim Howard has remained plenty busy in the media. He served as an analyst for Turner’s coverage of the UEFA Champions League in 2018. Earlier this summer, it was announced that Amazon was developing his life story into a movie.
