It didn’t quite cause the same uproar Sports By Brooks did in 2018 when he tweeted for the first time in five years, but Vikings fans were stoked to see Mike Wobschall make his return to social media over Labor Day Weekend, and equally excited to see he’ll be covering the team for PurpleTERRITORY.
A longtime employee of the organization, Wobschall was let go for reasons unknown mid-season last year, after serving as the senior manager of content for the Vikings Entertainment Network. In addition to his Vikings.com contributions, Wobschall was also regularly featured on the team’s flagship radio station KFAN 100.3 as a guest and co-host. His departure from the Vikings saw him stop appearing on KFAN.
But after unceremoniously being let go by the Vikings last fall and having not tweeted since Oct. 2019, Wobschall resurfaced over the weekend to announce his new gig.
Although he won’t be working for the Vikings for the first time in 15 years, Wobschall will still be covering the team this season. Wobschall announced he was joining independent platform PurpleTERRITORY as managing editor and senior analyst. This site features three Vikings blogs, Vikings Territory, purplePTSD and PurpleT. It’s unknown if his new job with PurpleTERRITORY will allow for a possible return to KFAN.
