Megyn Kelly Launches ‘Devil May Care Media’

After stints with Fox News and NBC News, the next phase of Megyn Kelly’s career will be an independent project as she launches her own media company, Devil May Care Media production firm, according to Variety.

One of the first productions from Devil May Care Media will be The Megyn Kelly Show, a podcast which will debut later this month on September 28th. On Twitter, Kelly released a statement to discuss her new venture.

“Every journalist’s dream is to cover the biggest stories and talk to the most interesting people without the shadow of a politicized media institution hanging over them. That’s what I’m about to do. With Devil May Care Media, I answer only to my audience and my conscience,” Kelly said.

“Those who like what I have to say will find the experience deeply rewarding. Those who don’t can look elsewhere. The point is to give the audience authentic content that goes places where traditional media can’t or — more often — won’t. It’s a great challenge that will reconnect me with my audience, and I’m excited to get started.

Kelly left NBC News in the middle of a three-year $69 million contract in January 2019. Despite not working with a major news network, Kelly used her contacts along with YouTube and Instagram to land an interview with Tara Reade, who was the woman at the center of a sexual assault against Joe Biden.

The interview with Reade is the type of editorial content people should expect from Kelly’s media company, which she explained in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

“The No. 1 thing I wanted to do was control my own editorial,” Kelly said. “To not be doing anyone else’s bidding, not having the pressure of corporate overlords over me, that means one has to be entrepreneurial.”

Devil May Care Media will be receiving some assistance as Red Seat Ventures will help manage and produce Kelly’s podcast.
