He said he wasn’t retiring when he left WFAN for seemingly the final time earlier this summer. Maybe 66-year old Mike Francesa has “NFL Insider” on tap as a possible second career? Francesa proved he can still cause a stir Tuesday afternoon when he reported the Cleveland Browns were shopping often disgruntled wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Twitter loves to point out Francesa’s freezing cold takes, and the Sports Pope loves to highlight any opinion or prediction that turns out correct. On Tuesday, the former WFAN host reminded his Twitter followers that he got off the OBJ bandwagon before anyone else even got on it.
Francesa was sourced for reporting the Browns were looking to deal the star wide receiver, but let’s not forget, his protégé and current WFAN host Marc Malusis also had Odell on the move not long ago. The Moose and Maggie co-host created similar national headlines earlier this year when he said the Browns were nearing a deal that would send the wideout to Minnesota. Five months later, the trade never materialized, we’ll see if Francesa’s report leads to a different result.
