Chris Berman rumbled, bumbled and stumbled through his Monday Night Football halftime performance on ESPN, but most fans didn’t seem to mind the mistakes.
In recent years, NFL fans have looked for any opportunity to ridicule ESPN’s Monday Night Football telecast, but Berman seems to get more leeway. Returning to MNF halftime with his “Fastest Three Minutes,” Berman gave three obvious mistakes in the quick highlight segment. He called Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky by the wrong name, did the same for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and claimed the 0-3 Houston Texans were actually 3-0.
That’s a lot of blunders for three minutes, but fans enjoy hearing Berman’s voice which has long been synonymous with the NFL. The 65-year old sportscaster still brings energy, enthusiasm and uniqueness as he sprints through the highlights.
And of course, Berman reminded us all that he popularized the WAP before Cardi B.
