One of the nation’s top doctors is concerned that misleading information about the coronavirus is making its way to President Donald Trump. Dr. Anthony Fauci, a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, told CNN that some media outlets are disseminating inaccurate information about mask covering.
“If you look at the scientific data, the masks clearly work,” he said.
Fauci touted his strong relationship with the news media with connections that go beyond decades. He said organizations like Fox News bring “opposing perspectives on what seems to be a pretty obvious fact or a body of data.”
“The public really needs to know the facts,” he added.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said mask coverings are “part of a multi-faceted approach” to keeping people safe from COVID-19.
He also said, “there are reporters who do a really great job” and others who distort the truth a bit. “I’m not sure there’s anything I can do about that.”
