Mile High Sports Radio Signals Sold, Future Unclear

The two signals that carry Mile High Sports Radio in Denver have been sold. According to Lance Venta of Radio Insight, KDCO-AM and the FM translator that relays the signal to 104.7 FM are going to separate owners in deals that combined value $1.12 million, leaving the future of the brand on radio in some doubt.

Rocky Mountain Public Media purchased the translator. It plans to put one of its sub-channels on the signal. Radio Insight speculates it would either be hip hop outlet “The Drop,” which is currently only on 89.3-HD2, or Denver Open Media, which highlights local artists and is currently heard on both 89.3-HD3 and 92.9 FM.

El Sembrador Ministries purchased the AM signal. While the brand has not publicly said that it will flip the format on 1340 AM, the group currently operates exclusively in the Spanish Christian format.

Nate Lundy’s Flying Penguin Productions has operated Mile High Sports Radio on the signals under an LMA with owner 4-K’s LLLP since September of 2017. The station is part of a multi-media group that also includes Mile High Sports magazine.

This isn’t the first time that Lundy’s group has faced some adversity. Mile High Sports Radio has changed signals three times since its launch in 2007. “No word yet on whether the brand will find yet another home,” writes Venta.
