The Miller family is selling the Utah Jazz and many of the businesses that go along with it. According to ESPN, the family has a $1.6 billion agreement with Ryan Smith that will see the Qualtrics co-founder take control of the NBA franchise, its G-league affiliate the Salt Lake Stars, Vivant Arena, and the Triple-A baseball franchise the Salt Lake Bees.
One piece of the business that is still up in the air is The Zone Sports Network. The Miller family owns the station KZNS-AM & FM, which serve as the flagship stations of the Jazz Radio Network.
According to KUTV-TV in Salt Lake, Smith intends to acquire the Zone, but it is not part of the initial deal that includes the Jazz and other Miller family sports properties. That deal has to be approved by the NBA Board of Governors. The sale of a radio station has to be approved by the FCC. Not including it in the first deal should allow the sale of the team to move faster.
The Zone is live and local from 6 am to 7 pm. Its three local shows include DJ & PK in morning drive, Hans & Scotty G from 10 am until 2 pm, and The Big Show in afternoons.
