Craig Carton To Return to WFAN on November 9th

Craig Carton is scheduled to appear today at 5 pm on WFAN to announce that he is indeed coming back to his former radio station. While the outspoken talk show host will certainly have plenty to say, his former producer beat him to the punch in announcing the headline.

Carton’s return will see him shift to afternoon drive alongside Evan Roberts to form the ‘Carton & Roberts’ show. The duo according to Dukes’ tweet will debut on Monday November 9th.

Perhaps Carton will shed some light later today on what he has planned for the show, how he feels about the new partnership with Roberts, the irony of occupying the seat once held by Mike Francesa (a Carton critic), and why he elected to return to FAN rather than start fresh with 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia.

Earlier this morning, Boomer Esiason addressed the news. Carton’s former partner said, “The last time we saw Craig here was Sept. 6, 2017 – 1,150 days ago – and Craig is coming back with open arms from all of us. We’re happy that this ordeal is over for him, and he’s back where he belongs. For fans of the station, or Craig, he will be back on the FAN today by himself. I’m sure this is a long time coming for Craig, and it’s been a long time for all of us. He paid an incredible price in his life, and for those of us who know what he has gone through…as a former partner of his, I’m overjoyed that he’s coming back to the station, and he’s part of our family again.”

With Wednesday’s announcement that Joe Benigno will soon be retiring, it seemed like only a matter of time before Carton’s return to WFAN would become official. Since being released from prison, Carton and WFAN have been the subject of many rumors and speculation that have been reported on extensively. Ultimately, the familiarity with the radio station, New York audience, internal friendships, and a longstanding relationship with Market Manager Chris Olivero were enough to lure back one of sports radio’s most entertaining hosts to the big apple.
