Eric Nadel Gets 2 Year Extension From Rangers

Longtime Texas Rangers radio voice Eric Nadel is returning for at least two more years, agreeing to a contract extension that keeps him behind the mic on their flagship station 105.3 The Fan through the 2022 season.

The 69-year old play-by-play announcer just completed his 42nd season as part of the Rangers broadcast team. Having joined the crew in 1979, Nadel is impressively entering his fifth decade as a broadcaster for the Rangers.

“I am looking forward to broadcasting games with fans in the ballpark at Globe Life Field, hoping that will be next year,” Nadel said according to MLB.com. “And 2022 will be the Rangers’ 50th anniversary season, which I definitely want to be a part of. After that, I don’t know. After 2022, I will see how I feel about going further.”

The Hall-of- Fame broadcaster and Ford C. Frick Award winner became the Rangers lead radio voice in 1995 and has continued in the role for more than a quarter-century. Nadel will be paired with Matt Hicks, his Rangers radio partner since 2012, with Jared Sandler serving as the backup play-by-play voice and studio host.

Nadel was scheduled to call 137 games for the Rangers in 2020 before COVID-19 shortened the season. In 2021, his workload will be reduced to 127 games, and 117 the following season.
