ABC News announced layoffs on Thursday, part of a broader reorganization plan at parent company Walt Disney. Earlier in the day, the company announced Radio Disney was ceasing its operation.
News president James Goldston said the staff reductions were necessary as the company adapts to changes in the business and organizational structure. News employees getting the pink skip will be let go in 2021.
More layoffs were announced which saw longtime executives from the ABC Entertainment broadcast network and 20th TV studio unit.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek made an announcement in October that created sweeping changes and a new distribution and monetization arm. The company has seen a reduction in staff from all sides from theme parks, studio entertainment, and live sports.
