FOX Business Host Charles Payne Criticizes California COVID Policies

Fox Business host Charles Payne blasted California’s COVID restrictions as hypocritical Monday after a video surfaced showing a restaurant owner complaining about being shut down while the state allowed a television network to set up a filming tent a few hundred feet away from her patio.

“This is just after we see Gavin Newsom go to French Laundry which is obviously a much more upscale restaurant than hers where the meals cost $450 a person,” Payne told Fox & Friends. “Willie Brown said that he heard the wine tab for that meal alone was $12,000.”

California issued a wide-ranging shutdown through at least Christmas as the state tries to contend with another coronavirus outbreak. It is estimated that 33 million Californians will be affected by the latest mandates.

Payne pointed out that states like Florida and Texas are allowing people to make their own judgments when it comes to going out and conducting general business.

“Those states are saying that we don’t need to make the pandemic worse by putting people out of business,” he said. “It’s really just amazing what Florida is allowing people to do, it’s about our freedoms.”

Meanwhile, Newsome said the latest round of lockdowns is in response to the possibility that hospitals may get overwhelmed if the case numbers continue to trend up.
