Longtime Sacramento Journalist Named Assistant News Director at KFBK

Longtime news veteran Mike Luery has been named assistant news director at 93.1 KFBK in Sacramento. Luery is no stranger to the market having worked at Hearst Television’s KCRA-TV, for more than two decades.

“Luery will “help oversee news in California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and Alaska,” iHeartMedia Pacific region news director Jayson Campadonia said. “He’ll report on everything from breaking news to politics to state fairs. With his vast experience in the news business, he will additionally play a critical role in developing young news talent.”

Luery will help producelocal content for both the morning and afternoon shows,according to program director, Bill White. “We look forward to Mike being an integral partner in contributing to the news content. Mike, with his decades of news experience in Sacramento, will be an excellent addition to our team of Northern California news veterans.”

He started his career as news director at KZOZ-FM in San Luis Obispo, California. According to his Twitter account, he had planned to retire from KCRA in December but changed his mind.
