Changes Coming to CNN’s New Day

CNN will see a change to its morning news program “New Day,” as CNN’s Brianna Keilar will reportedly replace Alisyn Camerota as the co-host. NBC News media reporter Dylan Byers first reported the change; however, CNN has not officially confirmed the move.

Despite moving away from her morning program, Camerota will reportedly head to the afternoon time slot, The Hill reports. The network is impressed with Camerota stating that she can balance serious coverage with a good-natured rapport with co-host John Berman.

Although Camerota has impressed the network, the move away from the morning slot is a demand that Camerota has for some time sought a new position, citing the demands of early-morning TV.

Camerota’s departure is the first step of the shakeups that the program will be having. CNN is trying to compete with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” in the morning time slot and has yet to find the right formula of hosts. Over the last few years, “New Day” has seen Chris Cuomo, Kate Bolduan and Michaela Pereira as host.
