WNBC Mourns the Sudden Death of a Reporter

WNBC-TV reporter Katherine Creag died unexpectedly Wednesday at 47, the network announced. The network issued a statement and expressed its deepest condolences.

“She was thoughtful, funny and relentless,” WNBC’s vice president of news, Amy Morris, said in an email to the staff. “And even on the toughest days she was a bright light, quick with a kind word and a smile.”

Creag, went to college in New York, spending five years at Fox News before joining the NBC staff. During her career, she won various awards for reporting including Emmys, Associated Press, and Edward R. Murrow awards.

“For 10 years Kat was one of our cornerstones, always willing to help in any situation, whether it was a colleague in need or a shift that needed to be covered,” Morris said.

Creag was known to her colleagues as a valuable member of the station’s news team and a great friend. “She loved her viewers and the city she so ably served. We are heartbroken and will miss her. Our thoughts are with her family at this time,” said Lerner.
