Barrett Sports Media has learned that Ben Ingram will soon be announced as the primary play-by-play voice of the Atlanta Braves. A deal between Ingram and the team is done and he will handle the radio call beginning this season.
The news of the deal was broken prematurely last week. Dickey Broadcasting’s 680 the Fan, which serves as the Braves’ radio flagship, tweeted a message congratulating Ingram. The tweet has since been deleted.
Ingram has been part of the Braves’ radio team since 2011. Most of his experience has been hosting pre and postgame coverage. Starting in 2019, he did call a select number of games.
Jim Powell had held the lead radio play-by-play role until the end of last season. He is expected to remain with the broadcast in a new role.
It is a massive stage for Ingram. The Atlanta Braves have the largest radio network in all of Major League Baseball. It boasts 156 stations in ten states.
FWIW..The Braves Radio Network is 156 stations (not 138) and we’ve never had a Puerto Rico affiliate during the 12 years that I’ve been affiliating the network.
