One of the most amazing aspects of LeBron James’ NBA career has been his durability and longevity. 18 seasons, 36 years old, deep playoff runs, taxing minutes, taking a physical beating on the court while continuing to play at an MVP level is nothing short of remarkable.
So when LeBron suffered a high ankle sprain as the NBA season nears crunch time, it made most basketball fans say ‘he is human.’ But maybe the biggest LeBron fan of all, FS1’s Nick Wright instead called the ankle sprain a “low key great moment,” adding it to his legacy.
I’m very curious to know what would have happened if LeBron missed the three. Would he have stayed on the court and camped out behind the line until he reached double digits? We’ll never know.
Still, the three was not a low key great moment in LeBron’s career, it was about as impressive as Carmelo Anthony playing in an All-Star game despite knowing he would miss the rest of the 2015 season with a knee injury. But I respect Wright’s attempt at spinning the injury from being a devastating blow, to a legacy building moment.
