Former “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan made his first public appearance since departing the show last month when he was a guest on Tucker Carlson’s Fox Nation show “Tucker Carlson Today.”
The Hill relayed the comments from the interview as Morgan didn’t change his stance on criticizing statements made by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and her husband, Prince Harry, during their interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Furthermore, Morgan touched on what happened on the morning show’s set when weatherman Alex Beresford confronted him on the comments directed towards the couple.
“It was an outrage. I wasn’t allowed to have an opinion that I didn’t believe what she was saying, even though it was clear to me in real-time as I was watching the interview that there were a number of things which couldn’t be true,” Morgan told Carlson.
“I was angry in the moment that he was trying to personalize this, make it I had some personal vendetta about Meghan Markle, which I don’t. And I came back. And we then had a pretty lively and quite enlightening, like half hour debate about this.”
Morgan also gave aspects concerning his decision to depart the show, which came down to his unwillingness to apologize for his comments on Meghan.
“I should be able to be a journalist and question the veracity of those statements. And frankly, I should be allowed in a democracy that values freedom of speech; I should be allowed to say, I’m sorry, I don’t believe you. But I wasn’t. I wasn’t allowed to do that,” Morgan said.
