Shannon Sharpe To Brett Favre: It’s Not About Politics, It’s About Right & Wrong

Brett Favre is again telling us that he doesn’t want politics mixed with sports, stating kneeling for the national anthem has “created more turmoil than good.” The hypocrisy is becoming a trend for Favre, a sports figure willing to talk politics, but also likes to yell ‘keep politics out of sports!’

On Thursday, Undisputed co-host Shannon Sharpe strongly countered Farve, saying it’s not about politics, it’s about right and wrong.

“Politics aside. It ain’t about politics, it’s about right and wrong,” Sharpe said. “And this is what I’ve started to see, he didn’t criticize JJ Watt when he raised money for Hurricane Harvey. He didn’t say a damn thing. But what we’re starting to see America, is that if it doesn’t impact white America, white America don’t give a damn about it.”

Sharpe’s reminder came in response to Favre’s appearance Sunday on The Daily Wire’s The Andrew Klavan Show.

“I know when I turn on a game, I want to watch a game. I want to watch players play and teams win, lose, come from behind,” Favre told Klavan according to USA Today. “I want to watch all the important parts of the game, not what’s going on outside of the game, and I think the general fan feels the same way.

“I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘I don’t watch anymore, it’s not about the game anymore.’ And I tend to agree.”

It’s not about the game anymore? Has Favre watched any games? Because once the ball is kicked off, tipped or pitched, it’s all about the game. And this is not the first time Favre said he believes sports are becoming too political. He made the same declaration last year, shortly after he went political and endorsed Donald Trump for president.

  1. As usual no one seems to be able to listen to the other. People go to or watch sports on tv for relaxation and entertainment, as they would go to a movie, concert, play, car show…could go on and on.

I and many others do not attend events to hear or see political, social, religious or any other protester or speakers. I’m there for the content of the event I’m attending not for anyone to express their political or other opinions.

Few years back went to a bruce springsteen concert (for the “music”) got about 5-10 minutes of political opinion during the show…not what I paid for. I paid to be entertained…not lectured on political issues. Lost all respect for him as an entertainer. Never will buy any ticket or music or any other item associated with him.

That being said…don’t have any issues with anyone expressing their opinions about anything while engaged in their private life.

  2. Shannon Sharpe is a race baiter deluxe…Hurricane Harvey funds were used for ALL people…Black, white, Hispanic, and any color in between….Brett Favre may be a lot of things, but a racist, I doubt it….unlike Mr. Narcissistic Sharpe, a virtue signaling, race baiting, liar and fool.
