Fox News Analyst Williams Rips GOP Extremism

Fox News contributor Juan Williams, who recently departed “The Five,” wrote a Memorial Day essay for The Hill, blaming Republicans for stoking the nation’s divisiveness and halting progress in Congress.

According to Williams, Americans should be coming together over the Memorial Day weekend to celebrate the declining number of cases and deaths from COVID-19.

However, with the wearing of masks being a divisive topic along with recent hate attacks and mass shootings, it reveals the country’s deep divisions as many Republicans still believe Donald Trump’s “big lie” that the election was stolen exacerbates the tension.

Williams cited the Fox News poll, which states that “sixty-four percent of voters now see political divisions as a major threat to the “stability” of the nation.”

The network contributor also cited another poll in which Republicans continue to think that former President Trump is the “true president.” Meanwhile, 56 percent of them believe the 2020 election was stolen from him.

“How can so many Republicans still believe the ‘Big Lie,’ almost five months after President Biden was inaugurated following Congress certifying Biden’s national victory by 74 electoral college votes and more than seven million popular votes?” Williams wrote.

“And why do 57 percent of Republicans think of Democrats, their fellow Americans, as their’ enemies,’ according to a February CBS/YouGov poll? This extremism among Republicans is paralyzing Congress. It can’t find the votes to better regulate guns. It can’t fix a broken immigration system.”
