Former President Donald Trump was intrigued by a conversation that he had with national talk show host Wayne Allyn Root last week.
Root suggested that the former president run for a House seat in Florida and lead a GOP resurgence and then become Speaker of the House.
“Why not run in 2022 for the United States Congress, a House seat in Florida,” Root said. “Win big, lead us to a dramatic landslide victory, taking the House by 50 seats.” A feat like the one outlined by Root, would possibly open the door for Trump or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to make a run at the White House in 2024.
Trump spoke at the North Carolina GOP convention on Saturday. He urged Republicans to participate at “every level, starting with the midterms next year.”
Trump said some people have suggested that he run for Senate. “But you know what, I like your idea better. It’s very interesting,” he told Root.”
